Hi Guys,
I was looking into the site of VVT.at for different options in local transport but its kind of confusing. We are planning to roam around in the local innsbruck areas and planning for a trip to Crystal World.
Which would be the cheapest choice for single person?
I see a 24 hours ticket which is 4.00 Eur per person. Is this valid in core Innsbruck area? I cannot see day pass for zonal tickets. Also if somebocy can tell me the meaning of following--
%26quot;Your journey starts in Innsbruck and you want to get to the nearby villages. Get your Single ticket and at the next bus or rail station pay the changing surcharge. You will be refunded the full price of your single ticket. %26quot; which is in the site :)

Sadly there is nothing like a Strippenkaart in Austria (except of greater Vienna), but all tickets for travel within Bundesländer (like Tirol) are valid on all means of public transport.
Best is to download this folder:
vvt.at/dataarchive/data80/tariffolder_2009_d…
For the zone of Innsbruck
dayticket € 4
weekticket € 12,30
There are regio-tickets that are valid in some zones, for example in all green zones on the map.
weekticket € 29,90
Then there is also the Tirolticket which is valid on all public transport (incl. the corridor to Lienz via Italy).
weekticket € 63
The %26quot;Kernzonenzuschlag%26quot; is what they call changing surcharge. You have to pay this surcharge if you travel into Innsbruck and want to change in Innsbruck for busses/trams.
If you travel from Innsbruck to a nearby village, the driver does not have the whole sortiment of tickets, so he probably will sell you a single ride for the Innsbruck zone.
When you change to the regional bus, show your Innsbruck ticket to the driver and you pay less for the ticket to your final destination. Same at the railway ticket counter.
Just to give you an example:
You want to make a day excursion to Hall:
You buy a single ticket for the bus/tram to the Hauptbahnhof. There you show your ticket to the ticket agent.
Cost if you buy seperate tickets:
single ticket Innsbruck: € 1,70
3 zones ticket Innsbruck-Hall: € 2,80
TOTAL: € 4,50
What the ticket agent does:
3 zones Innsbruck-Hall € 2,80
+ Kernzonenzuschlag (changing surcharge) € 0,80
- single ticket Innsbruck € 1,70 that you already paid
TOTAL € 1,90 (+ 1,70 that you paid for the ticket to the tram/bus driver) so just € 3,60
Hope that this is clear.
To the Kristallwelten in Wattens there is a shuttle bus every two hours from Innsbruck (as far as I know this has a special tariff) or the public bus which has a bus stop (Kristallwelten B127) quite close to the entrance.

Are you really sure you want to visit Kristallwelten? We were greatly disappointed when we visited it and thought it was a waste of money. Only the entrance looks really nice. I wouldn%26#39;t spend an afternoon visiting this place, I%26#39;d rather visit either Schloss Tratzberg (castle), Schloss Ambrass (castle), visit the beautiful Alpenzoo (which isn%26#39;t like any other zoo!) or take a ride up to the Hungerburg with the Hungerburgbahn to the Hungerburg and the Nordpark. From the Hungerburg, there are a lot of walking paths that go higher up the mountain, which are extremely beautiful. The Alpenzoo can be reached by the Hungerburgbahn too. Good luck!

Robbi provides good advice on transport.
If you have a Innsbruck Card and wish to go to Swarovski - the shuttle bus is free and also the admission.
But as described above, in my opinion it is not really worth the time.
www.swarovski.com
Crystal world = kristallwelten
No tour of any portion of the factory- numerous exhibits based on use of crystals. the items for sale are the same found in shops and at similar prices.
If you really want to buy something - Swarovski has a large shop in th old town portion of Innsbruck- shop there and save time better used elsewhere.
