Hi! A couple of friends and I will be travelling to Vienna for a friends wedding in July. Yes, its the high season :)
We really would like some info on the trains as this is our first time in europe!
We were wondering what would be the best option to travel to and from these places - if we should get ala-carte train tickets or get the eurail pass?
1. Vienna - Salzburg - Hallstatt - Salzburg - Vienna
2. Vienna-Prague-Vienna
Any information would be grately appreciated.
Thanks!!

As a group travels together, a group ticket granting relatively generous discounts seems to be the much more efficient option. Moreover, you can purchase highly discounted tickets for international relations starting at 19€ on the website of ÖBB. These tickets are neither flexible nor cancelable and need to be acquired as early as possible to avoid inavailability. Some routes sell out rapidly while others are longer available. If you miss the train, you must buy a new ticket.

Don%26#39;t get a pass - they are a lot more expensive. Tickets to Prague cost €29 Euros per person if you book them early.
You can do the Vienna - Prague section here oebb.at/pv/…index.jsp
and the Prague - Vienna section, which is cheaper at €19 per person (don%26#39;t book this section using the Austrian Rail site as it is more expensive) here: https:/…
For the other one, just buy the ticket on the day - there is no price advantage doing it in advance, but if you buy it through Raileurope you will pay more. To Salzburg from Vienna it is usually €44.20 per person, but in a group it will be less.

Thanks guys! Will take all of this into the planning of our trip.
How about the vienna card? For travelling within vienna - is it worth it? what is the usual rate of the entrace fees to all the sights in vienna?

Also, you may want to try Vienna to Prague to Salzburg to Hallstat then back to Vienna. Instead of backtracking like you appear to be doing. Just go the full circle. Also, I just bought a very inexpensive 19euro ticket and I bought it the day before I left, but that was in Feb and if you are going in July, you should try to get it in advance. I did get the Vienna card and used it all over for the metro and got a few discounts on some musuems entrances. It was mainly for the metro though which was very convenient.
