I can%26#39;t seem to find out if they have a club lounge. Looks like a great hotel, but if there is no lounge I will prefer the Marriott.

Judging by your two posts on this forum recently you consider the provision of a Club Lounge the yardstick by which a good hotel is judged. In my opinion a Club Lounge is provided by an otherwise mediocre hotel in an attempt to compete with the true luxury hotels. In Vienna, and many other European cities, there are hotels like the Imperial, Bristol, Grand, Sacher, Palais Coburg which are like a Club Lounge from basement to attic. They exude a class, often developed over decades, if not centuries, that no Marriott is ever going to match with or without a Club Lounge.
|||
I don%26#39;t judge hotels only by the fact that they have a lounge. And if the Imperial, Bristol, or the other hotels had an excellent, free breakfast and appetizers as well as desserts everyday, then I might agree with you.
But if I am in Vienna for 2 weeks for business, that club lounge will definitely come in handy - and save me some cash. This, along with the fact that there is a spectacular pool/spa area at the Marriott, is why I think that hotel is superior.

If you%26#39;re criteria for an excellent stay at a hotel are free snacks, breakfast included in the price and a pool then the Marriott will suit your personal needs. But that hardly qualifies it as the best hotel in Vienna! None of your criteria would be that important to me so clearly we would never agree on this, but the fact that we (and others) have very diverse tastes is why Vienna and most cities have a range of hotels of differing styles and costs to cater for all requirements.

The Imperial is considered by many as Vienna%26#39;s best hotel and it%26#39;s where foreign heads of state are staying when on official visit in Vienna. It is a european-style grand hotel, where everything offered is of a very high quality and they will do their best to fulfill every wish to your satisfaction BUT - and this seems to be what matters most to you - everything will be billed separately and at a steep price. Breakfast might be included depending on the room-rate, but for everything else, you%26#39;ll have to pay $$$.
If I didn%26#39;t have to care about money at all, I%26#39;d stay at the Imperial without hesitation, but if I was on business and choosing a hotel with club-lounge would save me a lot of money, I%26#39;d certainly opt for the Marriott.

If you prefer hotels with %26quot; Lounge service %26quot;
I believe you will find most people including those on business prefer the Intercontinental- a complete Club level for business person
Good location also overlooking the Stadt park-
a full executive level-
separate checkin / check out
Business center
Complimentary -Buffet Breakfast
Lunch services
Snacks
Cocktails
Dinner snacks
Complimentary internet
Daily newspaper
Valet Service
meeting rooms complimentary also I think
The hotel with fitness etc.
overall much better service than Marriott

Obviously the Imperial is a grander hotel, I am not doubting that. But for amenities, the Marriott seems to win. Also the Intercontinental doesn%26#39;t seem to have a pool and their rewards program isn%26#39;t that generous.

It appears that you obviously had your mind made up about the Marriott before you posted here. No mention of a need for a pool in your initial posting so it certainly was not the biggest priority.
No more waste of my time to comment also the good advice given here by others that you do not wish to hear.
Go to the Marriott - not a good place with the good selection of the city but perhaps this fits your style.

No, I didn%26#39;t have my mind made up when I posted. I was very open to hearing everyone%26#39;s opinion! Since I%26#39;ll be in Vienna so long, a pool and a lounge is a premium for me. I%26#39;ll go to the Imperial one night for dinner.

I certainly wouldn%26#39;t recommend that if you have to pay it out of your own pocket (it%26#39;s an excellent restaurant, of course), rather walk inside the lobby and back into the lounge and have a drink there!
Instead, inside the Stadtgarten (City Park), which is right opposite the Marriott, there is Vienna%26#39;s best restaurant, the Steirereck. On the lower floor of the building, right by the river-quay, they have a second no-frills restaurant, served by the same 2-Michelin-star-cuisine, which offers very good value in my opinion. They serve set-breakfast (rather makes an early lunch), lunch and dinner Mo-Sun.
Have a good time in Vienna!

That%26#39;s great advice about the restaurant! Thank you. I%26#39;m also looking into the Le Meridien now. We%26#39;ll see.
