In or near Vienna's Old City - hostel/ low-cost hotel

Hi,

Can anyone recommend a decent hostel (keeping in mind I%26#39;m middle-aged) or low-cost hotel in or near old city in Vienna? I%26#39;ll be there in May.

(I%26#39;m also going to Lake Bled, Slovenia, so any additional info about hotels there is welcome.)

Thanks so much,

Deanna2

You do not mention your price range and this makes reccommmendations a little harder.

One way to find accomodations is to visit the Vienna tourist website

www.wien.info

clicking on the hotel section you can enter your criteria and a list will be provided to you.

I can give you several OK places often mentioned here

Wombats- 2 locations near to the Westbahnhof- easy connection via UBahn line U-3 to city center in 5-10 minutes.

Easy streetcar ride line#58 to Schönbrunn palace.

Pension kraml - a small pension clean and family -run near to Mariahilferstrasse a major shopping street - easy connection to city city - close enough to many sights to walk

www.pensionkraml.at

often overlooked but a very nice clean place in the very center of the city - walking distance to most things - great choice of nearby restaurants.

rooms in the monastery at Schotten on Freyung square

I have stayed there several times over the years. 50 Euro includes a nice breakfast, and is in the center of the 1st district. I have more info if you need, just reply...

Thank you so much. By first district I assume you mean the Old City? Any further info welcome.

Thanks again!
