Nice scenic snow capped mountains in May 09

Hi,

Pls advise which location has nice snow capped mountains (no skiing involved) preferably with nice town, lake etc.

Main thing is we travel only by public transport and thus in May 09 , some places that we shortlisted does not have public buses in operation.

Therefore, pls advise such alps location where we can stay overnight along the path or in the village AND has public transport available!

Guaranteed snow on the glacier at Kaprun - a few minutes from Zell and probably still able to see snow on mountaintops by Zell

Would there be public buses to bring us to Kaprun and the summit in May 09?

Also, I read that the *** 2. - 19.6.2009: Cable cars and lifts at the Kitzsteinhorn closed ?

A bus runs from Zell am See to kaprun on a regular schedule basis. perhaps 15 minute ride. Easy to access ZellamSee via train from places including Salzburg. From kaprun you take the lift to the glacier and enough snow.

Why worry about June as you post that your visit is in May. The lifts run in may. They transport skiers as well as tourists.

In Zell is also the schmittenhöhe lifts that take you to the top of that mountain- most probably still some snow there so enough options for you.
