Romischer Kaiser

Anyone have any thoughts on this hotel? We found it highly recommended on some site and they have a good rate...hard to know if it%26#39;s really nice or a little tired...any thoughts would be welcome, thanks

PS: the other hotel recommended was the Alstadt

Firstly the Römischer Kaiser is situated on a lovely sidestreet just off one of Vienna%26#39;s principal pedestrianised shopping streets so its situation is just about ideal. The Altstadt is in one of the suburbs adjacent to the central areas, though within walking distance of the Ringstrasse which surrounds the central zone and a short underground ride from the cathedral at the centre of the old town. Both have a great choice of restaurants in the area.

How you%26#39;ve finished up with just these two hotels is a mystery to me as they are very different in style. The RK is very old Vienna in ambience whereas the Altstadt has a very contemporary edge to it. Both get good reviews on TA (RK #25 and Altstadt #8) so I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;d have any unexpected problems with either. I think your choice would basically be down to the style you%26#39;re looking for and, for what it%26#39;s worth, I%26#39;d almost certainly prefer the Altstadt. If you haven%26#39;t done so look at the hotels%26#39; reviews and photos on here and look at their websites.

They both belong to the same group as Schloss Kapfenstein...are there others you particularly like?

There are many lovely hotels in Vienna, but they differ widely in price, amenities and ambience. Could you give an idea of your budget and what you are looking for in a hotel. For example a recent poster was, quite legitimately, looking for a hotel with a pool and good fitness facilities.

Although I visit Vienna frequently I don%26#39;t use hotels so I couldn%26#39;t give a better personal recommendation than those you%26#39;ll read on TripAdvisor reviews. There are many threads on this forum asking for recommendations - search for %26quot;hotel recommendation%26quot; above.

We are looking for something under $200/night, centrally located, good quality amenities and comfort, nearby restaurants and tourist sites, quiet, not too large...

|||

Take a look at these places:

hotelaustria-wien.at/en/…index.html

as well as your two original choice. All are in or quite near to the centre, not too large, vary quite a bit in style and, with judicious advance booking, should just come within your budget.

I have always liked the Romisher Kaiser- superb location- as mentioned above - the center of Vienna walking distance to most things- good restaurants nearby-

The hotel is very clean,well maintained in a Vienna Style . It provides most everything you need . If you find a good rate - I would stay there.

Thank you...that makes it easy because we did find a rate of 127 Euros...we will stay at the Romischer Kaiser.

Hi Galeria! Please tell me where you found a rate of 127 euros. What month? In Oct. it is much higher on the Best Western site.

|||

It was right on their site, but it is a discount for seniors, so maybe won%26#39;t apply for you?
