Hotel in Wienna

Hi!

I will be on a project meeting in Austria in the beginning of May and will spend one night in Wienna before I fly back home. I have never been to Wienna before so I would like something central, close to sights, shopping a.s.o., as I will have only one day to explore the city. Am looking for a nice, reasonably priced hotel. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Please browse the forum as there have been numerous discussions on that. I%26#39;d contemplate accommodation in the city centre (Postcode 1010) that is encircled by the gorgeous ring street. Most sights can be reached on foot.

Any hotel between Stephansdom Cathedral and the Opera on or near the Ring Strausse. Not sure what your budget is, but here is a hotel that we really liked.

Buffalo that%26#39;s twice now you%26#39;ve intimated that between the Opera House and Stephansdom is near the Ringstrasse, but as you walk down Kaerntnerstrasse to the Stephansdom you are moving well away from the Ringstrasse!

Hi!

Yes I will browse the forum. Looks like postcode 1010 is what we want. Our budget is quite flexible, as we will only be staying one night, our priority is to be somewhere in the centre. We will arrive to Westbahnhof by train on Saturday and will leave to the airport on Sunday evening.

Thanks!

An excelent hotel to consider is the newly opened Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof at Herrengasse 10 in the city center 1010.

This is a perfect location for sightseeing with many good restaurants nearby.

The Hofburg Palace can be reached in 3 minute walk.

Most important it is a one minute walk from the Subway U-3 Herrengasse stop.

You can get the U-3 from the lower level of the Westbahnhof to this location in less than 10 minutes without changes.

When leaving, you can again use the U-3 to go to the Wien Mitte station location for the CAT train or regular S Bahn train to the airport .

If you happen to be flying with a Star Alliance airline or several other airlines you can checkin receive boarding cards and chack luggage at this location .This makes it very easy for departures.

THanks for your help!

I will check out that hotel. Thanks for the info about transport in Vienna. We are flying Finnair so I don%26#39;t know if they have check-in in the city. I will keep on searching for hotels......

Kartner Strauss - You are right. Sorry, it has been about 2.5 years since I went there and I confused the street name.

Many tourists enjoy staying at the Hotrel Austria- moderate priced in an excelent location for sightseeing, restaurants etc.

easy access to UBahn and also airport transfer bus just a short walk.

Prior poster should re visit Vienna .

The street I believe referred to is Kartnerstraase/ Kärtner Strasse.

Kartner Strauss is perhaps the long lost brother of Johann.
