I came to Salzburg 9 years ago and stayed in the New Town, Franz-Josef Strasse, but seemed to walk to the Old town for dinner each evening and then to the Irish bars on the river.
I am now arranging another girls trip and having a dilema, should I book the Hotel Weisse Taube in the centre of the Old Town for £110 or the Hotel Top Mozart in the New Town, Franz-Josef Strasse, for £87.
Are there any good bars in the new town now?
Will we end up trooping over to the Old Town all the time?
Is it worth paying the extra to stay in the Old Town? (We do have flip flops to walk home in).
Thank you in advance.

The Weisse Taube is in a great location in the old town, below the fortress. It%26#39;s close to absolutely all the attractions. I%26#39;ve never stayed there but it gets very good reviews here on TripAdvisor. It is a stone%26#39;s throw from the Irish bars and close to all the great restaurants in the old town. A good place to eat is Stieglkeller, just a five minute walk from the Weisse Taube.

LizR, thanks for your opinion on Weisse Taube. Recently made reservations to stay there 3 nights in September.

Thank you Liz
I have booked the Hotel Weisse Taube now and I will be booking with Bob%26#39;s tours for the S.O.M. and the Eagles Nest.

Good move guys, when we return to Salzburg we will stay in Weiss Taube again. Lots of nice little places in the same street, quiet yet perfect location, the rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff very pleasant.

Wow I need to beat your travel IQ now!
I was looking at Belgrade this morning, it there any nightlife there? Might meet a friend from Dubai there.

Hi Jen
Take a look in Belgrade forum, I%26#39;ll be pleased to help over there.
If you come in the warm seasons, the nightlife is the best in Europe - no joke! :-)
Splav culture is great, floating pontoons on the river, disco, bars clubs etc. Fairly unique scene.
