we are planning to travel to salzburg o 11/3/09 we arrive in the morning and hope to travel (the cheapest way possible) to GOSAU and then later in the week to ST WOLFGANG. Can any one tell me which is the best way to go ,.Also is Gosau a nice place to walk and where is nice to stay thank you

From Salzburg to Gosau takes between 1:19 and 2:18 hours, depending on when you want to leave. That also determines whether you have to change once or twice. The conveyance is train and bus. You will always have to change in Abtenau.
From Gosau to St. Wolfgang is all bus, taking between 1:32 and 2:00 hours. The route goes via Bad Ischl. You can get all this info. on www.oebb.at
I only have visited the Gosauer See (lake), so I can;%26#39;t tell you about walking paths and hiking trails.

As far as I know, Gosau is on a very flat plateau quite isolated in the mountains. As the village itself has some parts connected by flat roads, I%26#39;, sure that there will be also nice possibilities for a walk.
