Rail Pass 2 vs 3 countries price

This summer I%26#39;m doing a 3 week tour or Germany and Austria so I decided to buy rail pass. Germany-Austria cost $435 for 10 days, but if I buy a 3 country pass I pay 414. Why do I pay less and getting more?

You need to ask the company that sells and issues such passes. How shall we know what product you saw and what the difference is?

I think if you play your cards right and get local passes, you will be paying a lot less - ask in the Germany forum about such passes for Germany. For long-distance trains you can get tickets for 29 Euros if you book them far enough in advance. Point-to-point local tickets are generally good value and can be bought on the day.

Raileurope usually works out quite expensive and is only really economical if you intend doing several long-distance journeys in a short space of time.

If you work out your itinerary first then place another post to see what people think.
