Skiing standards in Seefeld

Hello everyone, I%26#39;ve just received a very late invitation from my friends (someone dropped out) to join them next week in Seefeld.

I usually ski in Switzerland and am not that familiar with Austria. I am a very good skier, and thus wondering what is the standard, the difficulty, variety etc. of pistes in Seefeld.

Not that I am totally fussy, but my holidays are limited and am wondering whether the resort is worth

visiting.

Thank you in advance, Maggie

Maggie, my son and I just returned home from a week of skiing in Seefeld. Plenty of snow and plenty of challenging skiing. I am sure you would have a great time.

We have also just got back , lots of red ,blue runs to enjoy and lots and lots of snow also its a great place for cross country skiing.

I suggest that you have a look to the seefeld website

www.seefeld.at

a good map of ski runs is available-

While not as large or challenging as many other places in Austria - it still offers a nice interlude in my opinion.

The better skiing is found in the area Rosshutte- you can go to the top SeefelderJoch and some ecelent and harder ( Black ) skiing but not extra long-

from the rosshutte and crossing by Gondola to the Harmelekopf - some very nice skiing usually many fewer people as just the look across may intimidate lesser skiers.

Good variety of middle harder skiing there.

The other skiing at Gschwannkopf - the front side generally middle to easier skiing - but the reverse side down toward Reith offers a little more variety - middle skiing.

Conditions everywhere are usually good - well prepared nightly - this year large amounts of snow in most all resorts.

My opinion

Seefeld would appeal mostly from beginner to middle level skiier , but as mentioned offers some challenge too.

Good for several days of nice skiing - for 2 weeks - you wish to be on a larger resort.

But Nice ski huts - good sun on the Rosshutte with sun chairs - the town is very nice - good shopping . some fine restaurants, a small casino- very nice mountain scenery - good winter walks available. near to Innsbruck and Mittenwald Germany for day trips.

I have always enjoyed the town- probably more cross country skiers - this is one of the best equipped for this in Austria- home to 2 winter Olympics with Innsbruck. With this mix rarely a wait for lifts -

Thank you very much for you replies, I%26#39;ve decided to go with my friends after all, and look forward to visiting Seefeld very much.

Cheers, Maggie
