Ten things you must do-list for Kitzbuhel

If you are into skiing, Kitzbuhehl is the place to be. Here is my personal destination-expert %26quot;Ten things you must do-list%26quot; for Kitzbuhel:

1. Pay about 5% on top to get the Kitzbüheler Alpen ski pass, which allows you trips to the other good ski areas in the area (like SkiWelt, Saalbach or Kitzsteinhorn).

2. Ride the 3-S-Gondula to Jochberg, if possible the gondola number 1 (You´ll see why!)

3. Have the “Linsensuppe mit Würstel” (lentil soup with sausages) and for dessert the home-made “Apfelkuchen” (apple pie) in the Jagawurz skihut in Jochberg

4. On a sunny day go to the ski area of St.Johann, stop skiing at lunch time and have a beer (each) in the ski huts Harschbichl Alm, Angerer Alm, Bassgeiger Alm and Grander Schupf. Finish the day with a “Zwickel” (very fresh beer) in the local brewery “Huber Braeu”

5. Look down the Mausefalle (mouse trap), the steepest part of the famous world cup slope called “Streif” (don’t worry, there is an easy way out).

6. Join the pumping Après Ski in Gerry’s Inn in Westendorf. There is no better party in the area!

7. Have dinner in one of the nice old farmhouse-like restaurants in the mountains with a nice view at Kitzbuehel. Ruetzenhof, Haggstein and Sonnbergstub´n are the hot spots.

8. Go to the Casino and win back the money you spend in Kitzbuehel

9. If not, buy cheap souvenirs, like the fabulous “Alps-of-Kitzbuehel-Mother-Hulda-Snow-globe” for just 2 Euros in the local information offices.

10. If you come here by plane, try to get a flight into Salzburg. Salzburg is the closest airport and Andi’s Taxi offers a very good door-to-door shuttle service to your hotel.
