saltzburg

Hihi friends we will be staying in berchtesgaden and driving a rental car around for 3 days begining of April. My questions are: is it better to visit the berchtesgaden salt mines or the ones in hallein or is it hallstadt? Also we plan a day in salzburg. Do we park at the park and ride in the south entrance of the city? is there someplace where we can buy the saltzburg card there? or is better to drive to allstadtgarage? Any sugestions welcome. Thanks in advance

The saltmine at Berchtesgaden would be the most convenient for you and people who visit always say they have a great time there. I haven%26#39;t been to any of them so can%26#39;t give a personal recommendation. If you%26#39;re planning a day in Salzburg it might be better to go on the bus from Berchtesgaden. You could also go by train. If you wanted to drive there you could drive as far as St Leohhard, leave your car in the village there, and catch the No. 25 but into Salzburg from the Untersberg cable car station. Parking is VERY expensive in Salzburg itself. You could go to the park and ride place but it might be just as convenient to take the No. 25 bus which I mention above.

I also recommend a trip on the Untersberg cable car - great views of the alps from up there but you need warm clothing and good shoes.

Hi

I think also that you could drive to St Leonhard and pick up the No 25 bus. The road is excellent and it is so easy to take the turn to the left past the Tourist Info Kiosk and after the hotel, only a few yards turn left into the Untersberg car park. The No 25 bus leaves from this car park and I can tell you that the timing is excellent. It runs every 20 minutes. If it says 9.20 am then that is when it will leave, no room for being late The journey into Salzburg is about 20 -25 minutes. We take it regularly from Grodig. You will enjoy very much both Berchtesgarden and Salzburg. Soak up every minute. Enjoy
