Hello, thought I would post some info Re Alpine centre as I struggled finding info before we went:
Well, it was the BEST holiday Ever, We arrived in Feb this year, first time skiing. I travelled with my husband and two children, age 16 and 12yrs. My recommendations are as follows:
1. Hire a car from Salzburg airport to resort, very easy to find, took about 50mins. We found it cheaper to go with the airline we booked with. Otherwise you are paying 110 euros each way, then apprx 14eurs each day(4 persons) on the shuttle bus to skiing resort. Also having the car gives you more flexibility to eat out for example.
2. We chose not to book half board, but to be fair the reviews I did read were a little unfair about the restaurant, as we eat in one evening and it was %26quot;Superb%26quot;. But personally I prefer a variety, so it suited us to please ourselves in where we wanted to eat. Infact, we ended up in a mcdonalds one evening after the resort. It was Good!!
3. The rooms are very warm and spacious, a little dated but very Austrian, which is nice. You will find the lighting in Austria is very dim. They have a pool and Sauna which was nice after a full day skiing to relax and unwind. You can also hire a DVD player for the rooms for 3euros including DVD.
4. We Skiied every day, we did go to Ski school the first day, but albeit a good day, we didn%26#39;t really get what e wanted out of it as we had 12 in our group with one instructor. So on the second day we went for a private lesson (4hrs) a little more expensive, but worth it.... which was fabulous. We got so much out of it, as the reminding 4 days we were off on the slopes on our own. Infact my son was hitting the Black runs on the last Day.
5. When you are at the resort you are able to leave your Skiis, bags, sticks and they will always be there on your return. I used to take some goodies ie chocolate, crisps, drinks (as it can be expensive in the resorts) and leave in the bag.
Finally, I just wanted to say, if it is your first time Skiing you won%26#39;t have any regrets, it is so much fun and has some amazing views when you are on top of those slopes.
