cheap uk flights to vienna

Anybody point me in the right direction for cheap flights from midlands or north uk to Vienna? Many thanks!

My idea of UK geography is a bit hazy so excuse me if my suggestions don%26#39;t fall into your ideal geographical area -!

From Luton Easyjet fly direct to Vienna and back once a day; prices are usually not bad. Otherwise you%26#39;re looking at at least one stop. Manchester and Birmingham both seem to have a variety of one-stop flights on different carriers so you might be able to find something competitively priced from there. Lufthansa flies out of Manchester and they codeshare with Austrian Airlines so there are quite good connexions on those routes - and not bad prices - about 160 pounds and up. BMI flight out of Birmingham and codeshare with both LH and OS but I find BMI much, much more expensive so probably Manchester is your best bet...

The honest answer is there are no cheap flights from the north of England to Vienna. Roley gives the best ways to fly to Vienna, but a lot of the one-stop flights involve a few hours at a hub airport making a total journey time of anything from 4 to 6+ hours and they don%26#39;t come cheap by budget airline standards.

Recently I%26#39;ve been flying with Slovak budget airline SkyEurope from Manchester to Bratislava which is just over an hour%26#39;s bus journey from Vienna with several connections a day. But there are two problems:

1) The flight has been moved to a later time making arrival in Vienna very late in the evening

2) SkyEurope have a lot of financial problems making their future somewhat uncertain. See this recent discussion on here:

Many thanks, Roley and Norman. Very helpful and useful information which is much appreciated.

While the following does not assist those of northern areas, I noticed an advert in a Vienna newspaper some days ago that I thought was a value.

Aerlingus www.aerlingus.com

In April as low as 5.99- 39 euro one way and 57 euro round trip Vienna _ London Gatwick.

Easyjet also now fly from Gatwick to Vienna, but I agree that if you can fly into Bratislava it%26#39;s not far from Vienna.

You might also be able to fly into Linz, Graz or Salzburg, which are a little further but still only a couple of hours on the train. In the case of Graz, it%26#39;s a scenic journey as well.

Many thanks Beppo-7 and Brickie. All this info very helpful and much appreciated.
