currency exchange

my wife and I will be taking a railtour Budapest to Vienna to Prague in May 2009, 3 days in each city. Would I have to exchange my US Dollar to local currency at each city or do they use Euro?

Only Austria uses the Euro. Hungary uses the Forint and the Czech Republic the Koruna. Some establishments in both cities will take the Euro, but you almost certainly will need some local currency.

Best is to use your ATM card to get money from ATMs. Fees are much lower compared to money exchange at banks.

Just check with your local bank in the US that you%26#39;ll go abroad and use your ATM card there. Also much safer than carrying lots of cash.

Of course you can change any currency at austrian banks (only paper money, no coins!).
