Take a walk on the Mönchsberg hill and enjoy the view over the old town and surrounding mountainscape. Up there, you%26#39;ll find the museum of modern art which has a very good restaurant, a terrace with excellent views and it can be reached by elevator from the old town.
Don%26#39;t miss the old Petersfriedhof cemetery right by steep rocks, near the funicular leading up to the castle.

Don%26#39;t miss the Sound of Music Tour. You%26#39;ll think it%26#39;ll be cheesey, but it%26#39;s great. There%26#39;s also the Fortress and don%26#39;t forget the brewery!

I too love to walk on the Monchsberg hill. At the south end are wonderful views of the mountains.
On the fortress there is a lovely cafe on the south battlements which is a nice place to have lunch. The terrace overlooks the mountains.
Schloss Hellbrunn is a short busride away (no. 25). The Italian gardens are nice to visit but beware of the trick fountains :-)The grounds at Hellbrunn are extensive. There%26#39;s a hill in the grounds with a folk museum on it. At the far end of the hill there is a nicely placed wooden bench (signposted as Watzmannblick). Here you can sit and gaze at the mountains and walk back through the trees.
