vienna nightlife

What%26#39;s to do after 6p in vienna. My friend and I aren%26#39;t really into bars. Is anything open late to see- like musuems? How about a concert? Can anyone recommend a good one? Thanks for suggestions.

Difficult to recommend a concert if we have no idea when you%26#39;ll be in Vienna! Knowing what type of music you like would help too.

Well, attendance of a cultural event would definitely enhance your visitation as Vienna is famous and renowned for its performances.

But why not strolling through the illuminated city and relax in a cafe.......

Museum-wise, Haus der Musik (House of Music) is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., www.hdm.at . Bring time, there are 4 floors and the museum is self-explanatory as well as interactive, lots to experience with as well as historical information on the Vienna Philharmonic and the Great Masters such as Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert etc.

Mozarthaus Vienna, www.mozarthausvienna.at, closes at 7 p.m., it is not at all big, so 30-40 minutes (or less, but that may be just hurried me ;)), should suffice there.

If you are coming during the warmer months - I echo the recommendation of walking around in the centre and enjoying the illuminated buildings, have a drink somewhere, there are lots of Schanigärten (come spring, cafes and restaurants tend to put out tables for people to sit outside). In July and August, there will be the Music Film Festival on Town Hall Square, free screenings of operas, operettes, concerts in front of the Town Hall in the evening and on the square itself, you will find culinary delights from various countries - seating in between the booths to both sides, though generally crowded at night. As this is the Haydn Year, you will find concerts and exhibitions focusing on him and his work in town www.wien.info/article.asp?IDArticle=15731.

There are some nice Irish pubs as well if these are more to your tastes, and most traditional cafes in the Old Town, the bigger ones, should be open until later into the evening as well (Griensteidl, Mozart etc.)
