how complicated is the train transfer between these places?
|||
Train trip includes 1- 2 transfers 3-4 hours depending on time of day.
Transfers are generally easy to do - exception is when you have much luggage.
look to
www.oebb.at
for info
I assume you probably arrive at the airport
you can use Friedrichshafen Flughafen - airport -as your departure point-
do you go onward to Ischgl ?

thanks for the name of the website. You are correct about the connections. I will look into it. I am considering heading to Ischgl but also of staying elsewhere as have not booked a place to stay and am travelling around easter time.

Great skiing almost everywhere now as most places have seen recent strong snowfalls.
I look forward to some days in the mountains soon too.
For good info on Ischgl - if you do not have it already
www.ischgl.com
easy bus connection almost every hour from Landeck train station- bus 4240 ?
but the above site can assist you on connections
It can also be used to access accomodation- book soon - that Easter time is the last big ski time of the season for many.
But Ischgl still good after that time - they should ski into May.

Thanks. I have been looking @ the web site but not much in accomodation. Have booked flights so will find something. What do u know of staying around landeck and busing to Ischgl is that a waste of time?

You%26#39;d spend some time on buses between Landeck and Ischgl and they may well be crowded with other skiers especially as ski buses tend to be free in the valleys local to the ski lifts. I stayed in Galtur (a few km past Ischgl in the same valley) and used the ski buses from there - just a few minutes%26#39; ride on a free bus and less crowded.
My group also used the train transfer between FDH and Landeck and found it both easy and good value. We met some others who had rented cars at FDH only to have them sit idle at Ischgl for the week - the rental cost per occupant was more than double what we paid for the train / bus transfer.

The Vorarlberg with the Montafon ski area is closer to Friedrichshafen. The train goes right into Schruns. There is great skiing on Sivretta Nova at the end of the valley.

The well known car free ski resorts of Fiss-Serfaus can be easy reached from Landeck. Rather than staying in the expensive resorts there are nearby villages like Ried Im Oberinntal where prices are lower.

Good advice as it does seem much cheaper and available than Ischgl. There has got to still be snow about in April. I didn%26#39;t fancy paying car hire when all you do is use it to get there so I%26#39;ll do some more research
