Hotel or B and B near heuringer - Vienna Woods?

Thank you to everyone for all the great information.

We are looking to visit Vienna Woods in April. We love B and B%26#39;s and would love to stay somewhere where we could experience the local culture.

I have read great comments about Weinhoff Zimmermann and wondering if there are any places to stay near there? Or would someone recommend another spot?

We will be arriving from Budapest, not sure if we are taking the train or bus. Our thought was to rent a car to get to Vienna Woods as we each will have a large suitcase and carry on bag. Was not sure how traveling with these would work to get to Vienna Woods.

Will then be taking the train or bus to Prague after visiting Vienna Woods.

Thank you so much!

The term Vienna Woods can be applied to a wide area. Do have a list of things you wish to see?

The Weinhof Zimmermann you mention is located in the Neustift am Walde district of Vienna.

Probably the nicest place to stay nearby there is the Landhaus Fuhrgassl Huber

for added info regarding Vienna Woods go to

www.wien.info then to sightseeing - vienna and its environs.

if you look for something in the tourist area Grinzing - the Grinzingerhof

You will probably arrive in Vienna by train- best method to access the above places with luggage is by taxi. You could do it by public transport with 1-2 transfers but with big luggage it is not too easy.

If you plan to visit other areas in the %26quot;woods%26quot; example Mayerling etc. a rental car is helpful, but if you plan sightseeing in Vienna , a car is a liability take public transport

If you want to stay outside the city there are a couple of lovely towns just to the south of Vienna (but with excellent train connections to the city) which nestle at the edge of the Wienerwald, Mödling and Baden. From both you can follow footpaths into the woods and both have many Heurigen to choose from. Further into the Woods, though an easy drive from either of the other towns, is Heiligenkreuz with its famous monastery and also a few Heurigen.

Only the Baden site has an English version.

Thanks you both for the great information. Will start researching now.

We will be able to sightsee in Vienna earlier on our trip (taking a cruise down the Danube), just wanted to return to see some of the wineries we have read about and enjoy the scenery. Really just looking for somewhere to relax for a little while:)and experience the local culture. Love cozy places to stay.

Thanks again!

If you cruise the Danube- depending on direction you may stop in the village of Dürnstein- numerous choices for wine tasting and walks through the vineyards.

Just near to the train station- less than 10 minutes walk from the usual cruise boat docking area is a good Vinotek Domaine Wachau.
