Vienna, 4 days, 1 adult, 2 children

Hello all,

Every summer, my family goes to its home in Croatia for about a month. This year, I will be travelling with two of our three daughters (10 and 6) to Vienna, arriving August 2 and departing for Croatia August 5.

The girls want to do a Sounf of Music tour. Now I realize that Salzburg is a train ride away. Can anyone recommend how I should do this? We would like to see both Vienna and Salzburg if possible.

Should I spend a day in Vienna? Makes more sense to take a train to Salzburg and stay there for a day ...

If anyone has done this before and can RECOMMEND hotels/tours that would be great.

Keep in mind that my kids travel overseas often enough so they know how the schlepping around goes.

Thanks!

Kim

Austrian Railways ÖBB offers a vast number of trains between Vienna and Salzburg as it is Austria%26#39;s busiest railway corridor.

In my opinion you should not miss imperial Vienna, but if (adorable) Salzburg must be embedded in your itinerary - then do it!. Spend the first day in Vienna and try to get a very rough overview and travel to Salzburg the next day. Take one of the first trains and return on one of the last trains what should give you approximately 10 hours for sightseeing and stuff. It is clear that you won%26#39;t see a lot of Vienna, but sometimes it is just not possible.
