We will be visiting munich and viena in August. What is the best option to visit Salzburg, out of Viena or out of Munich considering prices and convenience.

As Salzburg lies between Munich and Vienna it would be logical to visit it when travelling between the two

If you are considering a day trip, that is best done from Munich, a 90 minute ride by train.

If you%26#39;re flying between Munich and Vienna then Caviargirl is quite correct that Munich has quicker connections to Salzburg for a day trip.
If you%26#39;re travelling between the two by train or car then it makes sense to visit Salzburg en route.
