Ski resort for beginners plus non skier. Help appreciated.

Would love to take our 7 year old son skiing at Easter. I haven%26#39;t skied for many years so count myself as a beginner and husband has dodgy knee so unlikely to be able to ski at all. Looking for resort with good ski school for me and son, a little bit to do for husband (although he%26#39;s quite content to take it easy - walking and reading) but would like a few bars to choose from in the evening for an apres ski drink. Was looking at Scheffau but am thinking it would be a bit too quiet. Obergurgl or Zell am See are possibilities. Any views would be greatly appreciated!

Since Easter is fairly late this year, consider resorts that are %26quot;snow safe%26quot;. Any of the resorts around the Arlberg (St. Anton etc.)probably are. Have you thought about an easy to get to resort in Switzerland, that fits your needs? The last time I was rained out in the Kleine Walsertal in Austria, I moved to Arosa (near Chur) and found a town that very much fits your needs. Otherwise, the Kleine Walsertal is also a good fit.

In any event, if you want to fly on a low cost airline, you can fly into Friedrichshafen and go from there by train either to Arosa, The Arlberg or the Kleine Walsertal (the latter involves a short bus ride from the Oberstdorf train station).

Hi!

Kitzbuhl could be a good choice for you. The town is lovely and there is lot to see and do, also for non skiers. All training lifts at the base of the mountains are free of charge to anyone, so if you are no sure how your skiing is, go there for the first days and decide yourself when to hit the bigger mountains.

There are some good ski schools in and around Kitzbuhel, I personally can recommend %26quot;Skischule Reith%26quot; (very kids friendly!)

At Easter the prices in Kitzbuehel are more than fair. If you looking for even better deals, try St.Johann in Tirol, which is ten minutes from Kitzbuhel and has a nice small ski area with a lot of ski huts as well.

This year Kitzbuehel has tons of snow, so you definitely will have good skiing conditions at Easter, although in the valley probably the first flowers will come out.

If you think about flying to Austria, try to get a flight into Salzburg, Andi´s Taxi offers a good door-to-door shuttle service from the airport to your hotel/ pension in the area of Kitzbuehel.

Thank you both for your replies - I will do some further research on the areas you mention!
