Hi all
Having 2 days in Luzern in 7 and 8 November ... cant decide if to fly from Zurich to Prague ... or .... train from Luzern to Salzburg, stay there 2 nights, then train to Prague.
Can find train Luzern to Salzburg at just over 6 hrs, but a very scenic ride, at about 84 Euro
Train from Salzburg to Prague - quickest looks like the EC from 1422hs - 2041 hrs, tho cant get a price.
Staying in Prague 3 days, then train to Vienna
FLying out of Vienna 17/11.
Any advice - flying or lot of train tavel in a few days worth it???? thanks Liz

Salzburg Hbf. to Praha is € 61 in 2nd class. You can find fares (and also buy ticket but they will cost the same at the ticket counter):
oebb.at/pv/…index.jsp
--%26gt; International tickets
You can also ask at the swiss ticket window if it is possible to buy one ticket for the entire journey (Luzern-Salzburg-Prague). Best is to print out the trains you want.
International tickets are usually valid for at least 1 or 2 months, all tickets in Switzerland, Austrian and CZ are flexible and not bound to a specific train.

€61?? It is only €19 the other way...
It also means getting either a train at an uncivilised hour of the morning (04:40), or arriving late at night - and that is if you get the direct trains. The other options involve changing 2 or 3 times, and apparently at the same price!
Going from Prague to Vienna is only €19 - https://eshop.cd.cz/Default.aspx?lang=E

The website does not show any offers... maybe they are available but only when booking direct at the ticket window.
Connections from Austria to CZ via Linz are bad and slow on both sides of the border... but it becomes better.

I was wondering about that as well, as they are supposedly available through Sparscheine - usually there are at least some available at a discounted price, but perhaps they have all gone already. I can%26#39;t believe the route is that popular, though!
