Advice on Romantic Salzburg....

We are heading to Salzburg next month for our wedding anniversary and would love to hear about special restaurants, sights etc....

Would you recommend Stiftskeller St. Peter Restaurant, I know its got very mixed reviews but the building itself sounds wonderful. Would you recommend any other romantic restaurants, off the beaten track maybe?? We are staying at the Wolf Dietrich Hotel in one of their suites so I think that should be great.

We have booked the SOM tour (hubby a bit dubious!!) but any other sights?? We will be staying for three nights. Interested in good traditional bars/pubs also.

Many thanks

The Demel pastry shop on Mozart square was beautiful, airy, clean lines, fresh flowers, stop in the afternoon and have a dessert and a glass of mulled wine here...very different look than the one in Vienna. Also, you should get the Salzburg card which gets you into all the museums and busses. We ate at the Alstadt Fox which is a good inexpensive authentic restaurant and it%26#39;s not far from your hotel.

Thank you very much for replying!! Was begining to think that romance was dead in these resessionary times! Your recommendations are very welcome.

We love the Wasserfall and dine there several times each trip. Wonderful food and very nice ambiance and convenient location.

We stop in Wine and Co just across the street most evenings for a glass/bottle of wine.

For a good, traditional meal try Triangle near the University. Great venison dishes, good stews and also vegetarian options.

Take a look at this link as I think you might find it helpful in regards to dining in Salzburg:

Also if you are looking for something romantic and private you might want to check out Schloss Monchstein, they claim to have the smallest restaurant in the world, I have been up there and can say that it is indeed very romantic, even if you just go up from a stroll in evening.

Then click Restaurants.

Also a nice place to have a drink/dessert is Hotel Stein, just on the other side of the river, beautiful views overlooking Salzburg.

Happy Anniversary and have a nice time in Salzburg.
