Me and my girlfriend are trying to plan a big trip to Europe. There is a Skyeurope flight going from Vienna to Nice. However, I%26#39;ve read some reviews in other sites and I got a bit scared. There is always people talking about cancelled flights and whatsoever.
Can we trust Skyeurope? Is it reliable?
Thanks for everyone%26#39;s help.

Sky Europe was formerly not a bad discount airline.
They have many financial problems now and I would advise to look elsewhere to book flights.
6 of their most modern aircraft - Boeing 737 recently had to be returned to the Lessor GECAS a General Electric company as they were not in compliance with the lease terms.
A relatively large loan becomes due later in february. It seems their cash position does not allow repayment, I am told they look now for added capital but considering the financial markets , this seems impossible.
They missed the date to publish their financial resuts for the past year- very poor results must be assumed.
I believe they now have turned to short term agreements with several east european airlines ,like Bulgarian Air for use of their aircraft short term certainly a poor solution.
Vienna sees their airline with considerable delays and cancellations-
With this much bad news - the choice sems very easy - choose another.

Their services from Vienna are/were mostly reliable. I have never had any complaints to report. But with the struggle against their financial problems they are not trustworthy at the time. The irony is that the sceptical travelers booking elsewhere because of their worries will actually cause/speed up the bankruptcy of this airline.

Thank you very much to you all.
I%26#39;m very worried because I%26#39;ve planned my trip with 4 flights by Skyeurope: Amsterdam-Prague, Prague-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vienna and Vienna-Nice.
I already buyed the tickets. There is nothign I can do at the moment but pray to the Airline finds a wealthy ownership. However, as I%26#39;m going to travel in may, I%26#39;ll wait till march to see if the company goes bankrupt. If so, I%26#39;ll have to finger out how I%26#39;m gonna make to travel this legs.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks once again for your help.

I have very recently flown with Skyeurope to Vienna, as well as one month ago, and three months ago. Nothing abnormal. Everything most satisfactory, Actually flight personell as courteous as always or even more. Punctuality absolute or even earlier than planned. Telephone center service very accomodating.
There are not many airlines that can boast such performance nowadays, low cost or other. One can only wish that others offer so well a service.
As I have booked several other flights with them, I want to ask scepticals, should I also buy with other arlines on the same dates?
In fact I was considering to buy even more flights, tomorrow. Should I buy from others even though their prices are higher, schedules are not as punctual, service is known to be inferior, and the financial situation of these is certainly not robust (e.g Austrian Airlines before Lufthansa, and most of the others)?
How much is the risk that Skyeurope does NOT go bankrupt and I end up in having spent a lot of money to others, for inferior service?

Well, I really hope that Skyeurope does not go on bankrupcy. Actually, I hope for the exactly opposite. However, the news about the bankrupcy really freaked me out. I have decided to plan my trip bases on Skyeurope flights exactly because the flight schedule is very convenient indeed. The flights are mostly on the afternoon - so we don%26#39;t have to ake up early - and there are direct flights, instead of other companies where you have to make at least one connection to reach your destination.
So, as I told, I%26#39;m here praying for Skyeurope financial health. I don%26#39;t know yet what I%26#39;m gonna do if it goes bankrupt.
Anyway, as the others have said, the deadline seems to be february 15. Let%26#39;s wait till there to see what happens.
Thanks to all.

Your philosophical and euphemistic sight of the issue is great to read but the hard facts are just different. I really would like to agree with you! But you cannot compare SkyEurope with Austrian Airlines. Austrian Airlines is still in possession of the Republic of Austria (stake of 42%) and is also member of Star Alliance. SkyEurope is completely alone. It did not happen to Austrian Airlines that leased aircraft were suddenly taken back.
I also don%26#39;t agree that SkyEurope is basically more punctual and service-orientated than others. Their service is okay, but nothing to cheer about. It is good that you are convinced that SkyEurope will make it, but the current facts rather predict the opposite.

Above comment regarding Austrian Air is not completely accurate.
Austrian more than just a member of the Star Alliance.
An agreemnt for a takeover of Austrian Air by Lufthansa is already in place for some months, includes acquiring government stake and more.
The former president of Austrian Air and others have been replaced by basically Lufthansa people A mid term rescue cash investment package of 250 million euro is complete.
New measures for improved performance announced and now being employed.
Lufthansa has a successful record of this type of takeover - example that done with Swiss Air.
The only remaining act to complete this is a final approval by the EU.
Lufthansa has a proven record of fiscal success - example a profit in 2008 of more than 1 billion euro- thus funding and proper management is assured.
While a restructure of routes is in process- the future of Austrian and ability to deliver service seems much better than most today.
