we are thinking of going out too obergurgl, first week in april, can anybody give detail of snow conditions for boarding.

You choose a good resort
with its higher altitude 1800- 2000 meter miniumums make good snow possible to May.
Should be good in early April - avoid time of Easter Holiday April 14 ?
assume you already have the area website
www.obergurgl.at
you can follow weather conditions there too.

Hi Simon
we are thinking of going the first wek of april also. We had 2 weks in Austria this month and need another snow fix. Have you found any good deals we are a family of five. Your input would be apreciated thxs

Vertical,
Would Easter in Obergurgul be %26quot;Madly %26quot; busy? Just easter day or the whole week prior /after the holiday?
We can%26#39;t really go another time!
Would that be a good resort for teen intermediate?
Any other options you could recommend for late skiing?
Last year we went to Kaprun ( February) - liked it a lot, but in April we would be limited to to ski on the Kitz( it%26#39;s a bit of a trip up there daily!) as Maiskogel would be closed by then??
Thanks in advance!

Hi Almondgrove
I have been doing a lot of research on Obergurgl for easter also. Most place already booked out though the ones that are left are very expensive. They are quoting me euro450 per night for a family of five half board only - we do not need flights). If you are interested I can give the names of the hotels that do have availability. We are probably not going now as we have just returned from Austria and will now wait till next year for our snow fix
good luck

Almondgrove :
I never try to ski on the Holiday times - but if you only have this time - Obergurgl - Hochgurgl is not a bad choice in my opinion.
By tradition Easter is often the end of the ski season for many especially families.
Schools closed and Easter Monday also a Holiday.
With high altitude this area is a good bet to have excelent snow.
With a big ski lift network , it never seems to be extra crowded to me. However , hotels, restaurants - full- many choose half board to be certain of a fix table each day.
Good area for an intermediate skier too.
This year has seen high snow accumulation many places.
Friends of mine live near to the Brenner and do not remember so much snow in many years by their home.
If you can find accomodations - I would go - but just my opinion.

Given the recent snowfall across Austria, early April should still provide good sking in many areas. We regularly visit Ski Amade and several of the resorts there guarantee skiing until Easter or mid April. For snow sure, Zauchensee is a good bet but several of the other resorts are also indicating they will stay open until 19th April this year - see Flachau, Wagrain etc. This is a large ski area and great for intermediates.

some great feedback.
just come back from levi in finland %26amp; looking around the net, for easter deals.
inghams still have some reasonable prices %26amp; im looking at flights, then taxi or car hire to obergurgl.
you can also get a bus, for a reasonable price.
on the obergurgl web site, hotels arent fully booked yet %26amp; can be booked direct.
