We will be skiing in Lech for a week March 14 but have extra 2 nights before heading back to Zurich. Any suggestions as to what we could do as a family in the area before we head back to the city? My son is a big fisherman. Is there any fishing in the area?

As Lech is in an mountainous and snow-covered area the opportunites will be limited. Browse through the website of Lech-Zürs (www.lech-zuers.at) in order to find something that could entertain you. Fishing in March at this altitude? Most entertainment options would be related to alpine activities.
What about a day trip to Innsbruck to enjoy a little urban life?

Fishing season here is generally April through Ocotber subject to species.
Most all capable waters are owned or leased by clubs, individuals , hotels etc. thus one just does not %26quot; go fishing %26quot; a license and permit to fish individual waters is needed- can be expensive .
Lech does have a nice stream running through it - many fish in this area in summer.unfortunately - for your visit at the wrong time.
As you probably already know Lech is relatively isolated - just one way in and out in winter- the roadway north towards Germany is closed in winter by snow.
This limits your tourism somewhat.
While you can go to Innsbruck- about 1 172 - 2 hours east by train. This is in the opposite direction to your return to Zurich.
Not far west from Lech are the towns of Dornbirn and Bregenz - perhaps some interst to you

The little country of Liechteinstein sandwiched between Austria and swiss is liked by many too.
